Here at Low Tide we understand the importance of beer education for both our staff and the community. We believe that beer is at its best when it is handled, served, and discussed properly. We also believe that education is a bedrock foundation to have a vibrant and growing beer community. Low Tide commitment to education starts with its staff and has resulted in having the most Certified Cicerones on staff of any brewery in the Lowcountry. Our commitment to education is extended to the Charleston beer community through our education programs and from informal discussions with the staff.
SO What exactly is a CICERONE?
The word Cicerone (sis-uh-rohn) designates hospitality professionals with proven experience in selecting, acquiring, and serving today’s wide range of beers. To claim the title of Cicerone, one must earn the trademarked title of Certified Cicerone® or hold higher certification as Advanced Cicerone™ or Master Cicerone®. Those with a basic level of expertise gain recognition by earning the first-level title Certified Beer Server.
WE currently have 4 Low Tide Employees that are Certified Cicerones.
